TIERINDIR – A platform to enhance the creativity of young adults

TIERINDIR is a German magazine I founded together with Nora Wunderwald and Luka Naujoks. The aim was to create a creative and responsible platform for young adults on which they can not only read articles but also contribute their own texts, pictures and illustrations. TIERINDIR is about growing up: school life, mental health, body image and future plans are only some of the topics discussed. It is really about giving teenagers a place to find their voice and give them a space to think: Who am I? Where do I want to be?
Different from conventional german magazines that typically are more superficial, TIERINDIR is trying to make a difference.

In December 2018 TIERINDIR won the German Multimedia price mb21, in May 2019 we successfully crowdfunded the first print issue which went to print in February 2020.

TIERINDIR No. 3: DRANG

Art direction
Editorial design
Print magazine

Our generation lives with the awareness of political missteps and tries to speak out against them, without forgetting the I in the We. It starts a change, with the desire for a better world. Somewhere between politics, pop culture and the personal, we were looking for a topic for this magazine - and found one: DRANG (eng: URGE). With a focus on social and political narratives, stigmata and emotions, we asked our contributors: What's pushing you? What is pushing me? What is troubling us?

The third print issue of TIERINDIR is a community project with 21 contributions from 37 people expressing their thoughts and ideas in words, illustrations, photography and other very own art forms.

Together with Mara Kuntzer and Anna Lutzenberger I designed the magazine and was responsible for art direction & printing. We also designed other merch accompanying the magazine (Posters, stickers & post cards).

TIERINDIR No. 2 – NACKT

Art direction
Editorial design
Print magazine

The art direction and editorial design was all in my hands again for the second print magazine of TIERINDIR.
In a collaborative effort, the magazine combines the works of 39 creative individuals, dealing with the topic of “being naked”, in whatever way that can be interpreted. I not only did the graphic and editorial design of the magazine but also contributed a text and collages to it.

TIERINDIR No. 1 – Wilde Zeiten

Art direction
Editorial design
Print magazine

I was responsible for the art direction and editorial design of the first TIERINDIR print issue.
The magazine is, like the online-version, a collaborative one. 30 artists, illustrators and authors have contributed works which all came together in the print issue.
I not only did the graphic and editorial design of the magazine but also contributed a text and collages to it.

The magazine’s topic is Wilde Zeiten (eng.: Wild times): Growing up and finding yourself, current social and societal developments (e.g. abortion or politics) but also finding calmness in wild times. It features essays, poems, photo series and interviews by contributors aged 16-26.

Workshops, Talks & non-profit

After founding the non-profit organisation TIERINDIR e.V., we started doing creative workshops with teenagers in schools or at events like TINCON. We also speak at events or give creative input, for example at re:publica 18.
